Began playing the flute at age 8 in my home town of Porvoo. I went to a primary and music school back then, played in a couple of chamber music orchestras, and passed different levels of basic degrees. Later on, in lower secondary school, I got bored of the classical flute and switched to playing tenor sax. At that time I played in a local junior big band, as well as in a jazz quartet called Swing & Komppi Bois, which was formed by a group of good friends.

Perhaps the most memorable one is playing in front of audience of 26,000 at the Pori Jazz festival in July 2003. As far as solid playing goes, however, I’d have to go with our gig at Karmarock festival in Harjavalta, July 2002.
