Date of birth:
4.11.1970

Place of birth:
Orimattila, Finland

Musical background:
I tried the piano once, but got kicked out of the music school cause I was so bad. Since then, I've concentrated on buying all kinds of cheap-ass little instruments when visiting music stores with musicians. And singing in the shower, of course. I am, however, a recording artist: I played the toy piano in one song on an album for The Krispies, and performed a Yogi bear type of singing part on another track.

Our best show so far:
That's a really tough one, cause after having toured together for such a short time, there's always some great new element to every show. Such as Tommy singing to a couple of newlyweds on the phone in Kemi, or the first time experiencing "Düsseldorf" at the end of "Nutwood Cut", etc. etc.

Best show you have seen:
Argh!!! As someone who does lights, I just have to go with Pink Floyd in Lahti (1989?). I get sparks in my nuts just thinking about that show.

A personal highlight in DJBB:
Same problem as with the question about the best gig. But for a selfish little pygmy like me, it really feels good to see a band have so much respect for their tech crew as these guys do. Ever since the first gig, I've felt like a member of the group, not someone who people still call "driver" after thousands of miles on the road together.

Craziest or weirdest situation on tour:
Oooh! You WOULD like to know...

Killing time on the tour bus:
Well, there are plenty of options, of course! Wait... Driving.

How do you prepare for a show:
The only thing you must never forget (lest you pay for it) is going for a pee before the show.

Favorite artists:
Yeah, there are plenty, but I'm still more inclined to just think: "A good song is a good song."

First album you bought:
Maybe something by Elvis, or the Village People, or ABBA. Can't remember, but most likely one of those three. How scary is that!!?!

Albums you grew up with:
In my dad's car, we used to listen to Fredi [Finnish pop icon from the 60's and 70's -translator's note] so much that I probably know every song he ever made by heart. Another group, Kivikasvot [The Stone Faces -transl.], also helped me try and get a sense of the English language with a song called "Tankero's Love".

Favorite albums of all time:
Yeah, right. Like I could even attempt answering this with my ADHD.

My Ipod TOP-5 right now:
Three top-of-the-line Finnish artists called Raptori, Allekirjoittanut, and Aki&Turo.

Favorite song:
See best albums.

Favorite Dire Straits song:
I'd say "Brothers in Arms" has touched me the most. Some additional studies would come in handy...

Favorite DJBB song:
"Private Intentions" or "Road".

Favorite DJBB live song:
The above mentioned two tracks are also the most visual ones for me. Of course Hansastadt Düsseldorf is also the bomb.

Favorite books:
Don't use 'em.

Favorite movies:
Two words: ZAZ!

Favorite TV show:
Right now: Prison Break and Lost.

Favorite food:
Is delicious.

Favorite drink:
Mostly liquid.

Favorite animal:
The bed bug? Nah, I have to go with either the sloth or the koala bear. Out of your more average pets, the Labrador.

Place you'd like to go to:
Asia, China, Vietnam, Thailand, or thereabouts. Japan would be cool, too.

Favorite time of the year:
Mega Summer! 30 to 40 degrees centigrade with humidity over 90 percent. Works for my body.

Sunrise or sunset:
Sunset, as I rarely get to see the other. Albeit one particular sunrise in Imatra was quite magnificent.

Who would you like to meet:
Spending some time alone with my beloved wife would be a real treat.

Worst nightmare:
I try to avoid coming up with this kind of stuff, but I guess a child's death or something of that sort.

Hobbies:
What the fuck is freetime? Taking kids to play soccer, taking kids to play hockey, changing diapers... As things stand, there isn't much time left over after work and family business are both taken care of. I am serious about taking the boat out for a spin, though, as soon as that's a possibility again.

Bad habits:
Yes, please.

Describe yourself with three words:
Tatu is Tatu.

Life philosophy:
Well, I got plenty of mottos, but the first one to pop into my head was: "Religions are for people who don't have faith in themselves."

The most important things in life:
Elämä itse. Ja sen eläminen niin hyvin, että on siihen tyytyväinen sitten kun se loppuu.

Instruments and equipment:
Blue L&M cigarettes are pretty much a constant must. With some good coffee, if possible. As for real equipment, I prefer the Hog light desk (cause I don't know how to play with any others). Doesn't really matter much, as long as it's good shit.
