23.12.2008 A VIDEO FROM SANTA JOHNSON!
On these last days of the year, we want to once again send a message of peace, props and patience to all you lovely people out there! I write to you at the end of another really intense week of recording sessions that has seen a number of future album tracks take massive leaps forward. You will be able to read more about the progressing work in our studio diary updates, but let’s just say things are coming along grrreat, and the vibe about album number four is through the roof!
This past year has seen a mere four public performances, so if you caught any one of them, consider yourself lucky! All kidding aside, it’s been really quiet, but rest assured we have not let this silence on the touring front go to waste. And come next spring and summer, the patience (yours and ours) will be greatly rewarded. We can’t wait to hit the road again with a big bag full of new tricks!
Our studio engagements made it virtually impossible to do our traditional Christmas Tour this year. This just means we will have even more cookies to give out next year, and some dates for December 2009 have already been booked! This year, instead of cookies, we’re sending out our love in the form of a short video clip, which was shot at the end of a another long day in the studio. It features the mad talent of our man Felix Zenger. And as the video will prove – wherever Felix goes, the sun is shining.

Don Johnson Big Band will perform alongside Apocalyptica and The Sounds at the Helsinki Ice Hall on 11 October, as part of a nationwide Green Fingerprint campaign to raise awareness on conserving energy and combating climate change. The website will also soon include a pledge from Don Johnson Big Band. 03.04.2008 ON-THE-ROAD COLLECTION FROM SECCO!
The band’s close cooperation with esteemed Finnish brands designing recycled goods continues with a special new family of products entitled "On-The-Road". Inspired by the song "Road", the black inner tubes of truck tyres have been transformed by Secco into a set of uniquely stylish bags. We’re talking band merchandise approaching on high fashion here. All the products are hand made in Finland, available in limited numbers only, and 5% of all sales will go to the Finnish charity organization Pietarin Katulapset. So step inside our webshop and place your orders to our new shopmaster extraordinaire, Severi. This young man, also known as the kid brother of our percussionist Tero, introduces himself to all of you in the members section!
23.12.2007 THANKS FOR 2007, BRING ON 2008!
Despite the fact no official date of birth has ever been established, it's safe to say 2007 saw Don Johnson Big Band reach the ripe old age of 10 years. A full decade. So all the more blessed we are to still be loving every minute of it.
It has been another beautiful year with 40+ gigs from almost every corner of Finland to Germany, Japan, Russia, and back. And every single crowd and every show has left a mark in our collective memory. Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo and Osaka was of course a particularly memorable experience, and we hope to see much more of our Japanese audience in 2008! This year has also brought along new long awaited Johnson products in the form of great recycled Globe Hope designs, and even more merchandise goodies are in store very soon -- so don't blink an eye!
Now that all the gingerbread cookies have been passed around, and the lights at Tavastia club have been switched off, it's time to rest up before the onset of a busy new year. "Evil" and "L.L.H." are but a few of the new songs that will soon find their recorded form in the studio, as serious work on the fourth LP finally commences. We will keep you all updated on its progress.
