After a week's journey to Japan The Johnson Road Show has landed safely back in Helsinki. Two great and energy-packed shows under the sun of Tokyo and Osaka, lots of new friends, sushi, nightlife and loads of interviews for TV and magazines. Stop press! Johnson Summer 2007 gets a kick start ahead of time! The band will perform on Saturday 16 June on the Main Stage of Provinssirock Festival (Finland's largest international rock festival) at 16.00. See you all there! More information: www.provinssirock.fi.
27.04.2007 SUMMER TOUR & KANYE WEST!
Summer is fast approaching, and a whole heap of new dates have been added to where it says Tour Dates, so check it out. Before all the summer madness, the Johnson Road Show will make brief stops to Greifswald, Germany, as well as entertain Finns and foreigners in Helsinki's Senate Square on the eve of the Eurovision Song Contest. Warming up for Kanye West (again!) in August, and the whole summer will naturally be crowned by Summer Sonic 2007 in Tokyo and Osaka. So see you all soon, and be prepared for both new live songs as well as some brand new merchandise bombs. No joke!
28.03.2007 DJBB TO PLAY SUMMER SONIC 2007!
Don Johnson Big Band has been confirmed for the biggest summer festival in Japan - Summer Sonic 2007! The festival is set to take place on 11th and 12th August in Tokyo and Osaka at Tokyo Marine Stadium, Makuhari Messe and Osaka Maishima Park. With names like Metallica, Coldplay, Beastie Boys, Beck, The Roots, Massive Attack, Muse, Radiohead, NIN, Daft Punk, The Flaming Lips and Lee "Scratch" Perry on previous years' bills it will be an exciting ride for the boys. Said Tommy: "Our previous trip to Japan lasted less than 24 hours and the majority of our instruments were missing due to airline logistics along the lines of Murphy's law. The gig went really well though and the audience was just amazing! To be offered a chance to show the Japanese that aside from heavy metal and glam rock the Finns have a Nordic Groove Theory to prove - it just couldn't get any better!" The bill for this year includes Arctic Monkeys, Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, Avril Lavigne, Bloc Party, DJ Shadow vs Cut Chemist and lots more. Don Johnson Big Band were awarded with a Finnish Grammy for the Best
Urban / Electronica Album Of The Year 2006
for their newest album "Don Johnson Big Band".
A completely surprised Tommy picked up the prize just seconds before
the band melted the stage with a fast live rendition of "Road" backed
up for the occasion by three steelpan players. The band would like to
thank all of you once again for your unbelievable support throughout
the years! Without you guys this would not be possible.
